The program focuses on three word identification skill areas: phonics, sight words and context clues. Students are involved in using phonic knowledge while reading for meaning. Entry Point 1 introduces students to the English alphabet slowly. Each unit includes short decodable texts. It provides instruction in the most common phonic elements such as phonograms containing short vowels.
